World Nursery Rhyme Week!
We are really looking forward to celebrating World Nursery Rhyme Week in class from 11th – 15th November. World Nursery Rhyme Week is a week long celebration of the importance of nursery rhymes in early childhood education and development. Founded and sponsored by Music Bugs, the initiative is now in its 12th year and we have taken part at Music Bugs Romford ever since launching classes in 2014 so this will be our 11th year participating. Please join us in class in your best nursery rhyme fancy dress. We can’t wait to see everyone’s creative costumes! There will be prizes for the best costumes. We will take part in the “Rhyme A Day” challenge once again where we sing a different nursery rhyme each day from Monday – Friday. We will cover them all each day in class so that you can sing them all but feel free to sing the appropriate rhyme each day again at home. Video links will be shared on social media so that you can join in with your little ones at home.
This year’s official five rhymes are as follows:
Twinkle Twinkle
Old Macdonald
The Big Ship Sails
Incy Wincy Spider
5 Currant Buns
Nursery rhymes are excellent teaching tools and can help to develop:
language and literacy skills
numeracy skills
social, physical and emotional skills – they are so much fun!
If you would like to take part at home or if you or someone you know works in a school, nursery, preschool, children’s centre or is a Childminder or Nanny etc. please register online to receive your free resources: https://www.worldnurseryrhymeweek.com/registration/. Some of the lovely feedback we've received from Music Bugs parents
Sarah is always so lovely, I’ve been taking my son from 4 months old and he now, at 15 months old, stands with Sarah and claps and dances. The variety of instruments keeps him entertained and the props used are really fun and engaging.
Lisa Cruikshank – mum to Charlie (Mini Bugs)
I have been going to Music Bugs classes since my eldest (now 8) was 8 weeks old. She loved it as much as my 2 year old does. Sarah, who runs the classes, is such a lovely person and always shows how much she cares for every child in her class. She always wants each child to feel comfortable and enjoy her class. Each week is jam packed, fun filled and the class flies by.
Heather McCarthy – Mum to Penny (Family Bugs)
